Hm. I need to learn how to make glare so's I can put some in here. Glare on his fur and tail would look nice.

Not sure if he's finished yet, but I like it so far. It will be another entry for Ally's Lockjaw contest. I will load the final picture soon ^^".

this looks so neat! I love the colors and the shading is wonderful! You've got the dragon anatomy down very well!
:iconakarui:
Thanks! He's a crossbreed between Ally's 'lockjaw' and my own 'tiiryuu' species. I am rather pleased with him so far.

I haven't quite got dragons down yet, any tips on anatomy? It's the leg and feet connection that kills me most.
:iconakarui:
Really? Hm. Well, the legs are easy. It all really depends on what KIND of dragon you're drawing. This is a four-legged, dog-like dragon. This meaks his legs are more like a canine's, rather than him having strong, obvious calf-muscles like an animal walking upright might. But if you want a dragon that either always walks upright, or does it every now any then, you want to make sure you can see the calf muscles.

The feet also deal with anatomy. If it is a dragon that walks arround on 2 legs, it's feet are going to be larger at the base to support its weight with padding beneath its feet (like a cat or a dog's), and it will walk on its toes. If it walks on all fours--well just look at modern creatures for all of the anatomy. Relate what you're wanting to draw to a real animal that lives in the same environment, etc. It's vital that you get the atanomy correct, or the creature will be unbelieveable.

Anyway, just look at real animals. They will help you a LOT.
