Name: Krena (kray-nuh)

Weight: 140 LBS
Specie: "secondary" Gatekeeper (not a "true" Gatekeeper but the offsring of one)
Type: wandering spirit
Element(s): chaos/shadow
Animal Heritage: dragon (4-legged)
Character:
Meet Krena, the first of Kraken’s 15 children, the eldest child and firstborn. She is a wandering spirit (doesn’t follow God or Satan) and desires above all else to be like her father—cold, evil, and bitter. Krena is at times far more evil than Kraken and proves herself to be just as capable of spreading death. In her wake she leaves nothing behind. “The safest enemy is a dead enemy,” she says.

Krena has no compunctions holding her back, for she has no conscience. Unlike her father she has no sense of love, compassion, affection, or guilt. Krena hates every living creature, everything God created, and no one is exactly sure why. Kraken hates life because he’s bitter and angry at himself; he hates himself for what he’s done and feels nothing can ever make it better—that God will never take him back. But no such event has occurred in Krena’s life that would seem to cause her to hate all things and to cause death on such a vast case as she does. Not even Levi knows for sure what causes her to be evil, but many people who have met her and survived seem to think she is lonely.

Krena was Kraken’s firstborn child, daughter of Veros, a demon lord’s mate. Veros had an affair with Kraken and they produced Krena together; Krena was declared illegitimate to Veros’ rank, lank, and inheritance, and she was cast out by the demons for being a crossbreed. No one knew who her father was because Veros refused to say, claiming it to be out of love. But Kraken had already fled; he’d had his fill of Veros and had moved on to find another female. Years passed and Krena lived alone and secluded in exile, living in the Blood Mountains a few miles from her birthplace. Her mother was killed by a mob of angry demons once they discovered she was pregnant; but the death-burning Krena used her mother’s negative energy from her rotting flesh and continued to grow. By the time she was fully developed her spirit had fed completely off of negative energy (due to her mother’s rotting corpse) and so she was born with some death powers. But these powers thinned throughout her life; she can drain energy at will rather than by simple touch like a normal Death would be able to.

She was born into a hostile world filled with monsters, demons, and angels. Krena was just a baby when she was discovered by a passerby Infected demon, who took her in for herself. But nine years later Kraken returned when he’d heard Krena was alive. He went looking for her, curious to see what had become of his first child. He found her and took her in, telling her he was her father. Krena left with him and became extremely attached. Over the next few thousand years of her growth Krena came to worship Kraken for his immense strength and power over the darkness. She became determined to become just like him. She would be his disciple, for she was his heir, and Krena dreamt of the day she would have the power he had. But since she is a girl Kraken feels she is incapable of taking his place. For this reason he created Coldfire. Krena hated Coldfire more than anything because HE had Kraken's blessing—even though he was the youngest child and she was firstborn and stronger.

Determined to be Kraken’s choice for his heir, Krena traveled to meet Coldfire. This was Coldfire’s second meeting with one of his sisters; the first he met was Serenity, Kraken’s 12th daughter whom was an angelic being with little spiritual stength. So when Krena showed up and challenged Coldfire to a battle over something he didn’t want in the first place, he wasn’t expecting for her to be so powerful. At this point he was still learning how to use his fire and he was still learning how to fly well. Krena attacked and Coldfire as nearly killed. Kraken intervened before the death blow could be struck, however, and scolded Krena for trying to destroy his beloved work of art. She became very angry but wasn’t brave enough to go against her father’s iron-strong will.

Angry and hurt, Krena fled the scene. She eventually returned to kill Coldfire again, more prepared to face Kraken if necessary. But this time Coldfire was ready, fully capable of a fight with her. But when he revealed his increased strength she grew frightened he might overwhelm her; too proud to run away again like she’d done the last time, Krena used Katherine as a human shield, making Coldfire incapable of attacking her successfully. But Katherine transformed into her wind/light angel state, and with Coldfire’s flames fed by her wind, the two destroyed Krena’s physical body and captured her soul in a spirit crystal meant to be used for Kraken.

Coldfire gave the crystal containing his eldest sister to Levi for safe-keeping, whom passed it on to Brooklyn later when he arrived. But the threat of Krena was not dead or gone, she was only sleeping within a prison her father and uncles had all known in the past all too well. She would one day awaken, and she would take her revenge against Coldfire—and if not him directly, then his offspring. They would pay; she would be Kraken’s heir as she deserved—no matter what it would take…

These are the words behind her for those that care to know:
The Gatekeeper of Chaos; within her realm she stalks the shadows, slithering between the mists and stealing wandering souls that dare put their guards down within her damning reach... Beneath the shadow of her wings chaos reigns supreme; her voice strikes death into the souls that hear it. Her skin is dark like her heart, and her eyes are blood red like that of seething blood pouring from an open wound. All she touches perishes; all she reigns over knows nothing but death, pain, and mourning, for she is incapable of love... Her soul is made of nothing but pure hate; she has no mercy for those in her wake; in her wake she leaves nothing. Life cannot exist in her world, for her existence is a damning principle of life. Her hair is black like the blackest tar; it sways and slithers like a black serpent in dark water a condemned soul wanders into when not led by a light. Hark! Oh, wounded, stray soul! Do not be fooled by her beauty—for like the serpent in the Garden, this black-winged witch will curse you and your children; she will tear you apart once she has gained your trust. Her words are nothing but lies for she is the spawn of the Curse; the child of the Darkness created by Man’s sinful nature…
Her wings are like that of a black eagle, soaring high over the earth as she prowls for souls she can feed off of; do not allow her lies and touch to put your guard down! She will take your heart and consume it for her own purposes. She feeds off blood and lurks in sin and shadows. Beware! She can take form of anything evil and of dark nature. Anyone who harbors bitterness, hate, sorrow or anger are her puppets; they are her driving force. But she like her father and sisters is not omnipotent or undefeatable; but unlike her Dark Father she can be killed. The Sister of Chaos can be only harmed by light, love, and only by a pure heart. Silver will cause her great pains and loss of strength. She depends on the darkness and blood to remain strong, take these two from her and she will become weak and frightened. She is prone to lust and desires of the World, and she will seek and take what she so desires. This is a weakness one can take advantage of. A heart of love and purity can shred through the Blood and can cause the Sister of Chaos to fall. Hark! Only one with a pure soul, body and spirit can defeat her! In the end she will find herself wrapped in her own chaos, but until then she will lurk in the darkness of the hearts of those that harness bitterness, hate, sorrow, and anger. Until then, she will lurk in the nightmares of those who will allow her existence…

…Amen.

For those that don't know, Kraken has 13 daughters and 2 sons. I have decided to do a project picture for each of his children, hopefully doing one a week. Each child will have a name, description, and corresponding number. They will be in order and given a full character description like I do to all my new characters--because I know how much most of you guys like that . I do it all for you! I thought it would be fun to show all of you guys what Coldfire's older brothers and sisters look like. Kraken has a few demon children and a couple angels, but most of them (out of a mix of fear/respect for him and their own desire to be their own master/boss beyond Kraken himself) are wandering spirits like him.

And just in case you're wondering what's up with the 2 different types of wings, they are symbols. She can shift forms like Kraken using her shadow powers. She has bat and feathered wings she can switch between, allowing her to have a variety of weapon choices. And the character at the bottom is Coldfire, showing her hatred for him.

More on her and her sisters soon ;).

...I'll shut up now.
Absolutely gorgous! The details in this image are just astounding! The subtle intricate details of the veins in her wings is a gorgous touch. The tension that you have captured in the folds of the membrain is wonderfully accented with highlights and shadows, it gives that wing a strong realistic appeal. Beautiful job on the highlights and shadows of both Krena's hair and wings, you really know how to handle black so well, I'm envious! Her skin tones are just wonderful, the soft shifts from highlights to shadows are wonderfully orchestrated an I simply love the expression on her face.

The depth of the background behind Krena is wonderful, the swirl of clouds around the moon really make it seem as if the night sky could go on forever. The way that you handled the mist and the night sky around Coldfire is wonderful, it has a very eerie, forelorn and bleak appearance. The stark black 'cavern' opening around Coldfire really accents the mood that surrounds him. I love how you shaded Coldfire's wings.

The text that surrounds Krena and the pale earthtone that "mattes" the entire image is really attractive and really accents both Krena and the detail drawing behind her.

I love the detail you put into Krena's description, it really brings her to life. In many ways I feel sorry for her. Beautiful work!
